Chetpet is a locality in Chennai. It is served by Chetpet station in the Beach-Tambaram line of Chennai Suburban Railway. Chetpet has a picturesque pond between the Chetpet railway station and the Poonamallee High Road, one of the last surviving natural water bodies in the city. It is the locality in Chennai where the mathematician Ramanujan died.Along with Egmore and Nungambakkam, Chetput is considered one of the original villages which was merged by the British to form Chennai. The area is named after Namperumal Chettiar, the architect and philanthropist who lived in the mid 19th century.
Chetpet lake, one of the important waterbodies in the city, is crying for attention with overgrown water hyacinth almost covering the entire water spread area.Residents in the neighbouring localities, such as Kilpauk, Egmore and Chetpet, note that though the water was not used for drinking purposes, it served to be a key source of groundwater recharge for the surrounding areas.
The lake was choked with water hyacinth and left neglected for over a year now. Moreover, it has been heavily encroached upon, particularly near theChetpet railway station. Also people scaled the compound wall of Kilpauk Medical College Hospital to fish in the water.

On a crowded weekday afternoon? this place must be a super hit. But the service was impeccable even with such crowd, they do deserve a 5 star.
The menu is a BIG WOW! The menu has everything you can think of from the north, typical mumbai chaats made authentically and can get a lot of items that is not available in other Chennai northie restaurants. So if sick and tired of the plain old naan and paneer butter masala in the name of north indian cuisine, this is exactly the place you shud go to!
The tandoori rotis and the veg kohlapuri were mouth watering. The menu definitely deserves an applause for the way its constructed, and sure you guessed it by now.
The place is not as expensive as it looks, its very much affordable. The ambiance might fool you into thinking this is an expensive place, but be assured, i think the clean and well-set fine-dining ambiance is example of the good service and management for everyone to respect your customers without burning a hole in their wallet.
